The objective of REDBIO is to promote the development and use of biotechnology as a key tool for the sustainable and competitive development of agricultural and forestry production in Latin America and the Caribbean.
REDBIO was founded in 1990 and worked in association with FAO until 2011.
It has been highlighted as the most important biotechnology network in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Its activities are focused on divulging, from sources of the highest level, knowledge and information about the advances and applications of the sciences and technologies that sustain biotechnology in Latin America. REDBIO has managed to bring together researchers, academics, professionals and students dedicated to biotechnology in its different aspects and nuances. One of its main activities is the realization, every three years, of the REDBIO scientific encounters.
